Baseball snack ideas for when it’s your turn to bring snacks for the team! A variety of options and price points.
As a mom to three boys, I’ve had my fair share of snack duty. I wanted to write a little round-up post of team snack ideas for baseball game days. During those busy weeks, I know how looking at a list to choose from can simplify your to-do list.
From what I’ve seen in my small Texas town, most people provide 2-4 food items in a snack bag and a drink in anything from a basic Ziploc bag to a baseball themed paper bag.
As a mom to a food allergy kiddo, this list is mostly nut free. I have tried to include a variety or regular, “healthier”, and options at different price points, including more affordable snack ideas. This is not an exhaustive list of all the snack foods out there.
I’ve broken this list of snack ideas into four categories – protein, packaged snack foods, fruit, and sweet treats.

Protein Snacks
Team snack ideas for protein options at a variety of price points.
- Meat Snack Stick – My younger kids like the Chomps Snack Size Turkey Sticks but will eat the Beef Sticks too. I like the small size and the fact that they contain 5 grams of protein. Bonus is that they don’t have to be refrigerated.
- String Cheese – This is a more affordable protein option. One piece contains around 6 grams of protein. Refrigeration required.
- Protein Kids Bar - Most of the products available in this area contain nuts. Clif Kid Z Bars seems to be the most widely available in this market.
- Drinkable Yogurt/ Smoothie – Prepackaged smoothies can make a good snack, especially for a morning game.
Packaged Snacks
Mostly grain based options such as crackers, pretzels, and granola bars.
- Popcorn – Great snack alternative to chips for kids. Variety of flavors available in individual sized bags. Smartfood Popcorn is what I usually buy for team snacks.
- Goldfish – Dose of whole-grains and lower fat than chips. These were cheaper on Amazon than my local grocery store. Older kids may prefer Cheez Its.
- Graham Crackers – Individual teddy grahams or animal crackers.
- Pretzels – Pretzels are another lower total fat option than chips.
- Granola Bars – Affordable snack option. However, if there are any peanut or tree-nut allergies on your child’s team, it can be challenging to find a nut-free granola bar.
Fruit
- Oranges – Cuties or small mandarin oranges make an excellent snack for after the game.
- Apple Slices – Available prepackaged from your local grocery store.
- Fruit Pouch – Younger children may enjoy an applesauce pouch.
- Dried Fruit – Raisins or yogurt covered raisins.
- Fruit Leather or Chews – For a healthier option, look for ones made with real fruit.
Sweet Treats
Sometimes we have those T-Ball seasons where a little treat after the baseball game can make a big difference. Here are some ideas for smaller treats for the kids.
- Rice Krispies Treats – I like that these come in a small package.
- Fruit Snacks – These are an affordable option when buying for a team. I think this is one of the most common items to put in a gameday snack bag.
- Fun-Sized Candy Bar – A small candy or lollipop.
Putting Snack Bags Together
Post-game can be hectic as everybody is scattering in different directions.
I like to put the snacks in cello favor bags with a twist tie, so it’s easy for kids to hold. I keep the drinks separate. Hobby Lobby has the best deal on those bags that I have found (~$1.99 for 24 ct.).
If you are in a fancier area, these baseball paper bags from amazon would be adorable.
Snack Bag Examples
Here are a few sample combination ideas. The cost per bag is based on current prices at my local grocery store in Texas and amazon.
- My go-to: Turkey Chomplings + Goldfish + Orange + Rice Krispy = $2.18 per/kid
- Budget Friendly: Fruit Snacks + Cuties Orange + Goldfish = $0.99 per/kid
- Younger Kids: String Cheese + Applesauce Pouch + Teddy Grahams = $1.48 per/kid
- Older Kids: Beef Chomplings + Smartpop Popcorn + Fruit Bars = $2.28 per/kid
- Nut-Free: String Cheese + Orange + Fruit Snacks + Animal Crackers = $1.45 per/kid
- Extra Protein: Beef Chomps + String Cheese + Orange + Popcorn = $2.35 per/kid
I hope this post was helpful as you plan what to bring for baseball team snacks this week. I know there are many other snack brands out there, this is just what is easily available to me via my local rural grocery store and Amazon.
I am always on the lookout for nut-free granola bars etc., so if you have some you love please share.
Wishing you a great baseball season,
