Orange zest adds a bright flavor to this Lightened Sweet Potato Casserole with a crunchy pecan topping.
Sweet Potato Casserole is one of my absolute favorite Thanksgiving dishes. I think that it falls somewhere between a dessert and a side dish. This particular recipe is adapted from an old family recipe that included lots of butter, brown sugar and marshmallows.

What makes this recipe 'lighter'?
- Brown sugar is cut in half reducing calories and added sugars.
- Butter is reduced, resulting in less calories and saturated fat.
- Orange zest is added for an extra dimension of flavor.
- Hold the marshmallows, a scrumptious crunchy pecan topping finishes out this sweet potato dish.
This year has brought so much to be thankful for! Finally earning my RD credential, a new house, new job, new town and a brand new baby boy. It is truly amazing how much life can change in just one year! I hope wherever you may be this Thanksgiving that you have good company and great food.
Lightened Sweet Potato Casserole will be sure to be a hit with your family this holiday season!
